Simply put: In the 18th century, you could not call a man's horse "fat" and get away with it. Young Lucidus, however, wishes the opposite was true in The Coward. Hounded by his honor-obsessed father, Lucidus is pressured into dueling over the equine slight. Not cut out for such sordid stuff -- he's more into entomology and tea -- the young nobleman hires a common criminal to fight in his place ... only to have the scoundrel make a bloody mess of things. A series of duels follows and Lucidus, to his dismay, finds his "fearsome" reputation exceeding his wildest expectations. Though set in the 1790's (sort of), The Coward is a knockout new comedy from Nick Jones (creator of the acclaimed "pyrate puppet rock opera" Jollyship the Whiz-Bang). Now Vance Smith directs its Midwest premiere at Theater Wit. Learn More

I wanted to like it, but it was just very clunky and not engaging. I thought the actors who played Milton and Roberta (the female "Bob") were quite good, but the rest relied on mindless schtick. On the plus side, the Wit is a great theater!
