Acting was good, but the play itself was very blah. There's really not much else to say about it.

In the political society of Washington in the spring of 1875, two beautiful American women must decide whether to marry two dashing American men, knowing they will also marry what their men believe about America, religion, truth and success. Romulus Linney's theatrical adaptation of two novels mixes Henry Adams' tales of love and ambition in Washington with scandals from the Ulysses S. Grant administration. This insightful vision of American democracy is scathing, funny and surprisingly relevant
Eclipse Theatre Company chooses one playwright per season and focuses on the works of that playwright only. Through this total immersion in a specific playwright's world, the ensemble gains a thorough understanding of that playwright and the circumstances of his/her writing in order to bring a more concentrated and literate representation of that playwright to the audience. Playwrights who have written more than three plays are eligible for consideration, as well as playwrights who have shown a definite range of growth throughout their careers. On deciding which plays to perform, a great factor is the challenge that the piece presents to the ensemble and its audience. Since the inception of the one playwright-one season mission in 1997, playwrights that have been featured with Eclipse include French Playwright Jean Cocteau; Legendary American Playwrights Tennessee Williams, Lillian Hellman and Neil Simon, New York Playwrights Romulus Linney and John Guare, and Chicago native Keith Reddin.
