Chicago Shakespeare Theater brings Disney's Beauty and the Beast to life on stage as an exciting and enchanting experience for the entire family. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated film and the Tony Award-winning stage musical, it's the classic tale of bookish young Belle, played by Emily Rohm, and the Beast (William Travis Taylor), a prince trapped in a monstrous body who'll only be transformed back if he can learn to love. Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Babette and Cogsworth are among the charming characters who help Belle try to warm the Beast's heart while warding off the comically evil Gaston. The vibrant score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice features such songs as "Be Our Guest" and the great title tune.

The venue was excellent. Music and costumes were wonderful. The theatre does get dark for certain scenes and the Beast can be a scary figure. I would consider maturity of a very young child before attending. Our entire family enjoyed, adults and children, including Nana.

Creatively directed. Perfectly cast. Superbly acted. Very fun for children and adults. Wolves were a bit scary for younger kids. A memorable musical experience.

This was a great production from the staging to the costumes to the acting and voices. We purchased our tickets through Goldstar at a discounted price and were seated in the second row off to the side, and although those people seated closer to center had an advantage since most of the action played in their direction, we still enjoyed what we saw and would highly recommend this show for all members of the family.

The musical was wonderful. Actors sounded almost exactly the same as in the animated movie. Lots going on, on stage, with the limited cast they had. The napkins were adorable! We had great seats - third row from side of stage. Very nice theater. Not a bad seat in the house! This was an extremely enjoyable musical and my two children, ages 19 and 22, had a wonderful time. There were small children in the audience and they were so loving every minute of it they didn't even make a peep. Go and see it, you won't be disappointed!

I was very pleased with this performance but somewhat disappointed that the main characters did not come up for pictures with the children. The after show activity was fun and overall worth the money I spent.

What I really want to say is, go, just go! The production is amazing. The voices, acting and sets amazing. Please don't let the fact that this is a shortened version advertized as "for children," deter you. You won't feel like you missed anything. My husband and I took our 5 year old daughter and we all had a great time. As a parent I was also pleased with the children’s section of the playbill and the meet and greet with performers after the show. Chicago Shakespeare you've done it again. Thank you!

I thought this performence of Beauty and the Beast was fantastic. Though being labeled as a Childrens/family performence, I found that it was perfactly fit for adult of all ages. I would highly recommend this to anybody seaching for an enjoyable afternoon, as the performence showcased exceptionally well acting, singing and dance. In addition to this, the characters, in my personal opinion were almost identical to the characters in the original film. Also i was impressed by the music, that was appearently performed live backstage. Overall it was an astounding performence. Do try to attend a performence, you do not want to miss this!

This was an excellent show with an amazing set, gorgeous costumes, and incredibly talented performers whose voices were very similar to those in the actual Disney movie. This theater was a perfect setting to provide an intimate show for both adults and children.

This is an excellent production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Fantastic show at very reasonable prices, so please take your kids. An enchanting experience. I took my 4-1/2 yr old and 7 year old and the 4-1/2 knew the story and was afraid the Beast would be scary, but she ended up LOVING the show. Cannot see anything more professional!

We loved the show. I thought that there would be a lot of younger children in the audience than there were. I brought my mom, my 19 year old daughter and her friend. The girls are both into the tech side of theater and they thought it was well put together.

By far one of the best shows we've seen! My four yr old daughter had a smile on her face the whole time and hasn't stopped talking about it. The wolves were a bit scary for her but as long as your child is familiar with the story they should be fine.
We absolutely loved it!!!

The acting, costumes, stage sets, singing and acting were superb. Sitting in Row A was terrific for the young ones! They were just disappointed that neither Belle nor the Beast came out at the end of the performance to sign autographs. Only 2 minor ones came out. All in all, the outing was a great success! Thank you for making it affordable!
