Chicago Shakespeare Theater brings Disney's Beauty and the Beast to life on stage as an exciting and enchanting experience for the entire family. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated film and the Tony Award-winning stage musical, it's the classic tale of bookish young Belle, played by Emily Rohm, and the Beast (William Travis Taylor), a prince trapped in a monstrous body who'll only be transformed back if he can learn to love. Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Babette and Cogsworth are among the charming characters who help Belle try to warm the Beast's heart while warding off the comically evil Gaston. The vibrant score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice features such songs as "Be Our Guest" and the great title tune.

For the first time since its debut at the Globe 400 years ago, Shakespeare's scandalous Henry VIII will be staged professionally in the Windy City thanks to the efforts of the Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST). Set in the decade following the death of Queen Elizabeth I, this tale dramatizes the king's divorce from Katherine of Aragon and his wild marriage to Anne Boleyn. All the political machinations and royal exploits of the court are laid bare, and you see how the future of England is forever altered. Featuring a talented cast under the direction of Artistic Director Barbara Gaines, this sultry, sordid tale is one for the ages. Learn More

The venue was excellent. Music and costumes were wonderful. The theatre does get dark for certain scenes and the Beast can be a scary figure. I would consider maturity of a very young child before attending. Our entire family enjoyed, adults and children, including Nana.

Creatively directed. Perfectly cast. Superbly acted. Very fun for children and adults. Wolves were a bit scary for younger kids. A memorable musical experience.
