King of the Rodeo is more than just a hilarious silent film, it also a fascinating portal into '20s Chicago. Though technically a "comic western," director Henry Macrae's 1929 release is bursting with gorgeous on-location photography of the city, capturing Chicago at its Jazz Age finest. When the Montana Kid (Hoot Gibson) heads for the big rodeo at Soldier Field, he quickly falls for the daughter of a contest official. Then Weasel, a renegade cow punch, robs the rodeo's cashier sparking a breathless chase as The Kid pursues him through the dizzying Chicago traffic. Watch this untarnished classic of the silver screen at the Music Box Theatre accompanied by the always excellent house organist Dennis Scott. Learn More

Tell me more, tell me more! Truly one of the greatest American movies of all time back on the big screen, with sing-a-long lyrics right on the screen (though I know EVERY song without them) and it's presented at the awesomely old-time Music Box theatre! I am Hopelessly Devoted to Rydell High. Great way to spend some Summer Nights.
