Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Summer Series unveils a world premiere by resident choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo in the same program as two company classics: internationally known choreographer William Forsythe's Quintett and Nacho Duato's Mediterranean-influenced Gnawa. Forsythe's Quintett picks up on themes of loss, hope, fear and joy heard in Gavin Bryars' 1971 composition, Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet, while Gnawa's evocative rhythms tap the Mediterranean spirit of North Africa and Duato's native Spain, with costumes by Modesto Lomba, chairman of the Spanish Fashion Designers' Association. One of he best music performances I've seen in quite a while! The Apollo Chorus is amazing, the orchestra was very good, and the soloists top notch. The Harris Theatre was nearly sold out. The seats were good, and the acoustics great.
Thanks to Goldstar, we saw this great performance at the ridiculous price of $20! It's great to have Goldstar. It allows us to see great shows for a small amount of money. We also are more likely to see something new or visit a new theatre with comp or low-priced tickets!
