American Blues Theater presents a live radio-style performance of Frank Capra's holiday masterpiece on stage at the Biograph Theater. This has been a holiday tradition in Chicago since 2004 and this year's performance once again features the original director and ensemble that have warmed hearts for many holiday seasons. Complete with live sound effects, an original score, and a cast of eight wonderful actors who bring the typical small town of Bedforf Falls to life on stage, It's a Wonderful Life recreates a 1940s-era radio broadcast of this heartwarming tale of troubled George Bailey's Christmas Eve journey through his life history.

I love the Biograph and when I had the opportunity to see "It's a Wonderful Life" there I could not pass it up. The acting was splendid and the set well done to remind us of the time period of the story. This was a "preview" but you would never know it. This cast brought this classic story to life. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and recommend it to everyone. I'll be seeing it again before Christmas.

It's hard to believe but this show is better than ever. The players are truly into their roles and it takes you back to how things might have been in the 1940's. I like that because Christmas honors a child and I feel it is a time to enjoy and celebrate life and be a child for a few precious moments. It's a time to reflect on the things that make you happy as we move forward into the New Year. This play helps you put those things into the proper perspective. I'll be back in 2011 and look forward to seeing some of the players in upcoming productions.
