No food on site, just a few beer selections and warm Rex Goliath Cabernet and Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio to take into the theatre ($5) which a shame because there is a wine store across the street at Buena that has a good selection. I expect better than grocery store wine. Bleh. Lots of restaurants along Broadway south of the theatre which works great if taking the 36 CTA Broadway bus.

I truly enjoyed Jailbait. You are drawn in by the actors. Storyline is fabulous. Brought me back to when I was a confused teenager! Highly recommended!

Quotes & Highlights

“[Director Joe] Jahraus gets the gutsy, hyper-naturalistic performances from this cast that the play needs. There are the right notes of sadness and confusion, leavened with the perennial attractiveness and theatrical excitement of sexual and emotional danger.”—Chicago Tribune (Chris Jones Recommends)
“A supremely observant coming-of-age play by Deirdre O’Connor now receiving one of those perfectly cast, flawlessly realized productions that are a staple of Profiles Theatre.”—Chicago Sun-Times (Highly Recommended)
“Jahraus’s smartly paced, well-acted production walks a tonal tightrope, allowing us to laugh alongside the rising sense of impending doom.”—Time Out Chicago

Description

Directed by Joe Jahraus_

Jailbait_ was developed by Deirdre O’Connor in 2008 as part of the Cherry Lane Theatre’s Mentor Project, with distinguished playwright Michael Weller serving as her mentor. In March 2009, it received its World Premiere as the inaugural production for its newest venue, the Cherry Pit Theatre.  O’Connor is a graduate of Columbia University’s MFA Playwriting program, where she received the John Golden Playwriting Award.

Jailbait is a funny yet painfully real look at teens who desperately wish they could grow up more quickly and the regrets of disillusioned adults who long to be young again.
