John Doe is a poet who has been declared mad and locked away in an insane asylum. There he is the guinea pig for bizarre experiments, including one where he is introduced to a heartbroken Catholic nun. This absurdist black comedy by revered Polish playwright Stanislaw I. Witkiewicz was groundbreaking when first written and just as relevant today. For this production, the Trap Door ensemble is joined by guest director Andrzej Dziuk from the Witkacy Theatre in Zakopane, Poland. They have adapted this version of Madman and the Nun and made it into something new and provocative. Learn More
