From the pen of one of Britain's most provocative playwrights, Mike Bartlett, Cock is an exploration of attraction, ambivalence and commitment -- with a modern twist. When John takes a break from his longtime boyfriend, he surprisingly finds love in the arms of a woman. Trapped between two lovers, neither of whom is ready to give up the fight, John must navigate tricky emotional waters. Caught in a complicated, contemporary love triangle, which "alternative lifestyle" will John ultimately choose? Cock was the recipient of the 2010 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre, and is making its Midwest premiere under the direction of Darrell W. Cox. Learn More

Quotes & Highlights
- "All of the plays we’ve chosen for our 22nd season are fierce, provocative and ultimately controversial – all things audiences have come to expect from Profiles.” —Joe Jahraus and Darrell W. Cox
- "Highly Recommended! A superbly cast, riveting, Chicago-style, slugfest shocker. This violent, pulpy show has so much raw theatrical juice, dispensed right in your face, you don't so much exit the theater as stagger out onto Broadway, in search of a stiff drink. You never know where this wildly intense and unfettered show is going next. It cut me to the quick!" --Chicago Tribune
- "Highly Recommended! Allison Torem's turn as the alarmingly disturbed teen is as intense as it is relentless. Kid Sister has an aweless approach to the most vitriolic of human deeds and desires that elevates the production to one of the most piercing evenings of Chicago theatre of the decade!" --Showbiz Chicago
Written by Will Kern
Directed by Profiles Artistic Director Joe Jahraus
Will Kern is best known for his play Hellcab, one of the longest-running shows in Chicago theatre history. Originally produced by Famous Door Theater Company in 1992, it ran for more than nine years. Performed coast-to-coast and worldwide, Hellcab won numerous awards, including a Fringe First at the Edinburgh Festival.
“For anyone interested in tough, gritty storytelling in the classic Chicago style, Profiles Theatre is the place to be,” says playwright Will Kern. “I knew my play Kid Sister needed a strong, collaborative ensemble to really bring it to life, and they really delivered the goods. Ideas and creativity gushing out like water from a fire hydrant. I'm happy as hell with it."
Profiles Theatre has produced such recent smash hits as Jailbait by Deirdre O'Connor, Killer Joe by Tracy Letts and Graceland by Ellen Fairey.
The cast of Kid Sister features Profiles’ ensemble members Eric Burgher (Jailbait, Body Awareness), Darrell W. Cox (Killer Joe, The Mercy Seat) and Allison Torem (Great Falls, In A Dark Dark House). The cast also includes Emily Vajda (Graceland) and Marc Singletary.
