The mischievous Cat in the Hat joins everyone's favorite Dr. Seuss characters at Youth Company Chicago's performance of the delightful musical Seussical Jr.. Adapted from the Broadway version especially for young audiences, the company's talented summer theater camp students will bring to life onstage the tale of Horton the Elephant, who's out to prove that "a person's a person, no matter how small," and JoJo, a young boy who's a "thinker of strange and wonderful thinks." Along the way, they'll have adventures in the Jungle of Nool, the Circus McGurkus and the invisible world of the Whos of Whoville, encountering such beloved Seuss characters as grouchy Grinch, Gertrude McFuzz and lazy Mayzie. The whimsical stories are backed by myriad musical styles from Latin to pop, swing to gospel and R&B to funk. Dr. Seuss' sense of fun and wonder comes through loud and clear, making this a musical that appeals to all ages. Learn More

The production was a culmination of a teenage youth theater production. This is a five star as those productions go, they did a wonderful job, and all the months of hard work were evident. Everyone involved should be thrilled and elated. As a production, it had it's strengths and weakness. The intimate theater was sweet, but uncomfortable. Performers varied...some excellent (dentist, singing trio, Audrey), others fair to good.
Little Shop of Horrors, presented by our Teen Ensemble & Professional Mentors. A down-and out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “Audrey II” grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination!
Parental Guidance: This show is recommended for ages 10 and up. Includes some adult language, a scary plant that eats people, and a scene that implies dating violence.
