Award-winning Chicago stage veteran Roslyn Alexander fills the fascinating shoes of fearless activist Emma Goldman in this new solo drama that explores the passions behind the controversial figure's political agitation and the price she was willing to pay for it. A charismatic speaker and organizer, Goldman threatened the turn-of-the-century status quo with her liberal views on social issues and women's rights, but became infamous as an anarchist who advocated free love and who was jailed several times for demonstrating contraceptives, inciting to riot and opposing the draft. Dennis Zacek directs for the ShPIeL Theatre. Learn More

Great show - wonderful choreography, singing, casting, etc. But I hated the venue. It was in a little box theater that you entered from the top and walked down to the seats. Seats not reserved but ushers seated us from top to bottom as people came in, so the latest were the luckiest. The stage started right at the first row so just about anything below the actors' waists was impossible to see as the people in front of us blocked them. A few parts in which the actors were seated on the floor were unseen and we were never able to see the actors' feet during the dancing. Disappointing.
