Acclaimed Chicago a cappella chamber chorus Bella Voce kicks off its 30th-anniversary season with a concert of masterworks from William Byrd and Frank Ferko. Renaissance period composer Byrd's Mass for Four Voices weaves together elements of the early Tudor Mass with strong continental influences. Contemporary American composer Ferko's complex and luminous Stabat Mater is acclaimed the world over for its telling of the Sorrows of Mary. Composed for Bella Voce under the name His Majestie's Clerkes, this masterwork was called by the Chicago Tribune a "marvelously intricate and sincerely devout tour de force that showed off ... disciplined, sensitive, and uncommonly nuanced singing." Internationally renowned soprano Patrice Michaels will perform as featured soloist at this performance.

SF Symphony: Barantschik and Vinocour Play Britten's Double Concerto

Full Price:
$34.00 - $92.00
Our Price:
$10.00

The San Francisco Symphony, under the baton of conductor Kirill Karabits, spotlights violinist Alexander Barantschik and violist Jonathan Vinocour for a performance of Benjamin Britten's Double Concerto. Written as a tribute for Britten's composition teacher when the composer was just 18, the Double Concerto is a challenging piece that requires immense technical skill on both the violin and viola. Its youthful vigor is sure to challenge the virtuosity of the Symphony's Concertmaster and Principal Violist. The program also features Honegger's Pacific 231 and Sibelius' Symphony No. 2.
