Motion, a new play by Ronan Marra, explores the tension-filled, behind-the-scenes dealings of the sports world that often is overlooked in favor of the games themselves. Hard-charging agent Drew is intent on getting his troubled, but talented, football client a blockbuster deal as the No. 1 pick in the draft, but his plan is sacked when the team that owns the top pick hires his ex-wife to rebuild the franchise and labor strife threatens to wipe away the profitable business model. Taking its cue from the recent NFL lockout, Motion is a peek behind the curtain of a billion-dollar industry that isn't all fun and games.

Hostage Song: Chicago Premiere of Provocative Rock Musical

Full Price:
$20.00
Our Price:
$10.00

A completely unconventional romantic comedy with a ripped-from-the-headlines setup, this indie-rock musical debuted Off-Off-Broadway in 2008 and now makes its Chicago debut with Signal Ensemble Theatre. Hostage Song tells the tense, absorbing and amusing story of Jim and Jennifer, two terrified American hostages, kept blindfolded and bound in an unnamed hostile country. Faced with uncertainty and death, they find a way to connect with their memories and each other through song. The book is by playwright and novelist Clay McLeod Chapman, with music and lyrics by Kyle Jarrow. Learn More

Parking was great, Open spaces available

Casual. If you wear Rams football clothing you could be part of the play.

Really good parking on street. Not far from public transportation.

Great: cast, story, easy to hear, set decoration, costumes, and lighting. Really nice intimate theater. Stage in the middle seats on three sides. Best seats on the right and left of the entrance. Parking not a problem on the street. I loved the football theme stagebill, tickets, free cups on the play and free popcorn.

Very well done! Enjoyed this dramatic play, the casting was brilliant. Small, intimate venue gets you up close and personal with the performers. For seating - I would recommend a sideline seat, not in the end zone.

We liked it a lot. I know nothing about football but still understood and appreciated the story, with the exception of some technical terms. My theater partner who follows football thought it was spot on.The play was very well acted. The set was cute, if not a tad cheesy, and the keepsake cups and popcorn were an extra bonus. This is a talented ensemble who are not afraid to explore different theater genres. Ronan Marra is a bright new talent who has a way of writing witty yet genuine dialogue. He really did his homework here, as he did in Aftermath.
