Lyle Lovett and His Large Band play the Ravinia Pavilion for a summer evening concert outside. The singer-songwriter's wise, witty lyrics and blend of folk, country, blues and jazz have earned him widespread critical acclaim, four Grammy Awards and more than four million album sales. A native Texan, Lovett has been a roundly respected star since his self-titled 1986 debut LP, which spawned the singles "Farther Down the Line" and "Cowboy Man." His hits since then have included "Give Back My Heart," "If I Had a Boat," "Don't Touch My Hat" and a cover of the classic "Stand by Your Man." Learn More

This is the third in a series of plays by this playwright, taking Greek tragedy and making it contemporary and Latino. The production is tight, fierce and engaging. This is a thrilling production which suffers from it's own ambition but succeeds in it's attempt to educate and entertain. Oye!

An all-around powerful, exciting, and beautifully rendered performance! I've already highly recommended it to a number of people. Too bad there isn't more time for folks to have the pleasure of seeing it.

This is not your mama’s Oedipus … In Luis Alfaro’s thrilling reboot of the daddy of all tragedies, a young Chicano ex-con sets out on a journey to be the king of the South Central LA gangland. Set amid the sizzling rhythms and explosive violence of an inner-city barrio, the gripping story follows his family of ex-cons through the vicious cycle of fate and violence in which they find themselves trapped. Oedipus el Rey is a sexy, modern take on a classic.
