Tony-winner Michael Grandage (Broadway's Red, Evita) brought his keen theatrical eye to this new-to-Chicago production of Puccini's tragic masterpiece, starring Patricia Racette as Cio-Cio-San and Stefano Secco as Pinkerton. Madama Butterfly focuses on a Japanese geisha, who rejects her family and religion to marry an American naval officer. But the devoted wife then discovers that their union was only meant to pass the time on his tour of duty in Nagasaki, leading to a heartbreaking conclusion. Featuring one of the best-known arias in all of opera, "Un bel di," this Lyric Opera staging is performed in Italian with projected English texts. Learn More

What a magical experience. John Cudia and Ashley Brown were a match made in heaven. The choreography was lively and my favorite was the dream scene. The Orchestra played as I have never heard Rodgers and Hammerstein music played. Words cannot express the amazing experience this was. I will always remember this day!
Set in the West just after the turn of the last century, the high-spirited rivalry between the farmers and cowboys provides the colorful backdrop for one of the greatest Broadway musicals of all time, Oklahoma! Here is a story that is both touching and gripping -- about growing up and falling in love, dreams and nightmares, and the promise and exuberance of a new land on the verge of statehood.
