In this powerful drama, the ultimate confrontation between two mothers in South Side Chicago comes as part of the aftermath of a tragic murder. Loosely based on actual events, The Gospel of Lovingkindness tells the story of a young man murdered for a new pair of shoes. His mother, Mary, struggles to put her life back together after his death, only to encounter the mother of his killer. This poetic and potent story examines the too-true reality of a community defined by class, race, gang violence and the church. Learn More

I saw that other Goldstar members gave this a low rating, but I don't know why. I go to several events in the city and found this to be quite entertaining, although I do prefer musicals. The actors were talented, it was a clever script, the Chicago references were funny ... it wasn't split your sides funny, but certainly several laugh out loud spots!! I especially loved the teenager and Marlene. It was a nice evening out ... Thanks.
Three sisters return to the family vacation home on the shore of Lake Michigan, where they spent the summers of their childhood. Now the sisters are grown, the parents are gone and the house is just sitting there. What should they do with the property? One sister wants to keep it, one sister wants to sell it and one sister just wants everyone to get along. With their respective spouses and one teenager in tow, will they even make it to the end of the week? Not likely!
