Grand and uplifting, Les Miserables is a powerful affirmation of the human spirit and one of the most popular musicals of all time. This tale of passion and revolution in 19th-century France won seven Tony Awards on Broadway and was adapted into an Oscar-winning film. Drury Lane kicks off its 30th anniversary season with this sweeping tale of romance, passion, suspense and redemption set against the stormy backdrop of the French Revolution. You'll be immersed in the tale of ex-convict Jean Valjean's struggle for redemption while trying to outrun the determined police inspector Javert, and the innocent love of his adopted daughter Cosette for the revolutionary and student, Marius. It's a celebration of the human struggle for justice and happiness in the face of hardship, carried forward on a gorgeous score, including the beloved songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "Do You Hear the People Sing?" and more. I saw that other Goldstar members gave this a low rating, but I don't know why. I go to several events in the city and found this to be quite entertaining, although I do prefer musicals. The actors were talented, it was a clever script, the Chicago references were funny ... it wasn't split your sides funny, but certainly several laugh out loud spots!! I especially loved the teenager and Marlene. It was a nice evening out ... Thanks.
Three sisters return to the family vacation home on the shore of Lake Michigan, where they spent the summers of their childhood. Now the sisters are grown, the parents are gone and the house is just sitting there. What should they do with the property? One sister wants to keep it, one sister wants to sell it and one sister just wants everyone to get along. With their respective spouses and one teenager in tow, will they even make it to the end of the week? Not likely!
