After a recent performance at Joe's Pub in New York City, last year's queer holiday hit We Three Lizas is back with a revamped book and expanded score. Box maker Conrad Ticklebottom's life has hit a stumbling block. At one time, his purple box sparked an entire movement in art and design, but now he's been forgotten and teetering on ruin. Just in the nick of time, the holidays bring three magical figures to his door -- a trio of Liza Minnellis -- to escort him on a fabulous journey through what-was, what-could-be and what-the-f*?!, redeeming his lost promise and reinventing a brand-new Conrad Ticklebottom. I thought overall the performance was ok. I thought some of the characters were very good roger and mimi, joanne, collins, others I though were very average angel (who should have stole the show), and mark. Although I did think that mimi's voice was fairly weak. Also the sound wasn't that good, a lot of the words in the actors low registers could not be heard, either the volume on the mics shoudl have been turned up, or the contrast ratio in the theater needs to be improved.
Critically acclaimed and prized around the world, NightBlue reinvents Rent, a powerhouse rock musical which tells the story of a group of young artists living in New York City's Lower East Side and their ceaseless struggle for artistic expression and survival in the face of poverty and disease.
