Description

Featuring a unique combination of improvisational comedy, education, and audience participation, Sex Signals provides a provocative look at the issues of dating, sex, and ultimately, acquaintance rape on college campuses. The two-person show explores how mixed messages, gender role stereotypes, and unrealistic fantasies contribute to misunderstandings between the sexes. This interactive program was first produced and critically acclaimed as The Sensitive Swashbuckler & Other Dating Myths at Chicago’s highly respected Stage Left Theatre in May of 2000. Since then, the show has been performed over 1400 times at over 800 schools throughout the country. It has become one of the most popular programs on sexual assault awareness among college audiences and educators. With Sex Signals, Catharsis Productions is also proud to have received a 2007 Moxie Award from the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault for creative efforts to end sexual violence.

About the Ticket Supplier: Catharsis Productions

Catharsis Productions, the brainchild of co-writers Christian Murphy and Gail Stern, consists of twelve actors located all across the nation. Each performance utilizes only two of the actors, and during busy portions of the calendar, Sex Signals is often being performed at 6 different locations across the country, using all twelve actors. A graduate of Stage Left's Down Stage Left program, Catharsis began to focus on college campuses after successful theatrical runs in 2000 and 2001. In 2002, the company was nominated for Speaker of the Year by Campus Activities, and has since performed on over 800 college campuses.
