This unique adaptation of Shakespeare's whimsical story of romance, mischief and magic is set in the 1940s and performed promenade-style, where you follow the action and actors around the space. In this play, one of Shakespeare's most popular, four young lovers venture into the woods on a midsummer's night and become the unwitting victims in a lover's quarrel between the king and queen of fairies. When a group of local rustics rehearsing a play in the forest also gets caught up in the madness, the comical snarl of spells seems impossible to sort out. But with fairies and sprites all around, it just takes a little more magic and, as Puck puts it, "all is mended." Learn More
Featuring a unique combination of improvisational comedy, education, and audience participation, Sex Signals provides a provocative look at the issues of dating, sex, and ultimately, acquaintance rape on college campuses. The two-person show explores how mixed messages, gender role stereotypes, and unrealistic fantasies contribute to misunderstandings between the sexes. This interactive program was first produced and critically acclaimed as The Sensitive Swashbuckler & Other Dating Myths at Chicago’s highly respected Stage Left Theatre in May of 2000. Since then, the show has been performed over 1400 times at over 800 schools throughout the country. It has become one of the most popular programs on sexual assault awareness among college audiences and educators. With Sex Signals, Catharsis Productions is also proud to have received a 2007 Moxie Award from the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault for creative efforts to end sexual violence.
