Members Who Went Said:This performance was extremely clever with two very talented actors blessed with utter wit and undeniable humor! (Chris and Courtney) Flawless improvising and contagious enthusiasm turned a comedy into an informative, poignant performance.
happyluv Very entertaining! You'll be amazed how everyone as a diffrent opinion.
Vanessa Bloomer I did not enjoy this show. They should stick to their intended audience which are college students and military personnel, not the general public. The show was more "educational" than it was entertaining. Some people may like it, but it was not for me. |

More Details About This Event: Blending a unique combination of improvisational comedy, education and audience participation, Sex Signals provides a provocative look at the issues of dating, sex and, ultimately, acquaintance rape on college campuses. The two-person show explores how mixed messages, gender role stereotypes and unrealistic fantasies contribute to misunderstandings between the sexes.
At their worst, these factors enable some to view date rape as simple seduction, and for victims of rape to blame themselves for their vulnerability. Although the message is a serious one, the show uses humor throughout to engage audiences in candid discussions about interpersonal relationships. Seasoned actors and educators, the performers strike a balance between laughing about the differences between men and women, and clearly communicating some serious messages about how we treat one another. This interactive program was first produced and critically acclaimed as The Sensitive Swashbuckler & Other Dating Myths at Chicago's highly respected Stage Left Theatre in May 2000. Since then, the show has been performed over 1,000 times at over 400 schools throughout the country. It has become one of the most popular programs on sexual assault awareness among college audiences and educators. About Catharsis Productions: Catharsis Productions aims to confront and educate audiences on challenging social issues in innovative and unexpected ways. Their goal is to challenge mainstream beliefs and myths, enabling individuals to challenge their positions of power and privilege, question the cultural values they take for granted, and to hold themselves accountable for their actions. About Stage Left Theatre: This intimate black box theatre has great sight lines and padded conference chairs with arms and comfort aplenty. |
