Set in rural Ireland, John M. Synge's The Playboy of the Western World follows a young man who swaggers into a small pub telling grand tales and boasting of dark deeds. Instead of condemning him, the local men and ladies admire him. Not all is as it seems, however, and when the young stranger meets his match in a feisty, beautiful barmaid, there's an unexpected twist in the tale that threatens his moment in the spotlight. This dark, comedic masterpiece still packs the same punch as when it was originally produced at Dublin's Abbey Theatre in 1907. Learn More

I was so excited to see this play but was really disappointed. It was dumber than dumb and felt like it was slapped together at the last minute. There was no set, lke a radio studio, but was using the last play's set and props. The people walked around acting ridiculous for the first fifteen minutes and one lady had this weird habit of flapping her hands constantly-VERY annoying!
It was a complete waste of money. I drove from Joliet to bring my father and my daughter to this "play" and I was totally ashamed by what they had to sit through.
I will never go to this theatre again. "Christmas Goose" killed it for me.
In contrast, I went to see Danu, recently, and that turned out completly differntly! I loved the whole show and I will take as many people as I can next year to see them again.
