Members Who Went Said:Disappointed. Expected a play marketed as a spoof to actually spoof known songs or other plays. Quality of acting and singers voices varied, with the actress playing Space Witch being a very good singer. Also enjoyed the narrator as a Mick Jagger-type character.
Marty A bit of fun, the two women had excellent voices. The music as a whole was very bland and non-melodic. The sound was very muffled and flat (possibly had to be to avoid feedback from any treble since there is a lot of exposed hard walls, but they seemed to have compensated somewhat with a curtain on the sidewall and some sound baffles on the back wall. So maybe it was a preferred tone?) Sometimes it was hard to understand the lyrics but what I did understand, wasn't that impressive (was it supposed to be funny, I hope not, as that would take more away from it as it wasn't) I haven't been to the Annoyance Theater since they opened in the new location. I used to take friends to see Co-Ed Prison Sluts at the old location and that was great. I guess I expected more in this one. |

More Details About This Event: The Annoyance Theatre is proud to present Space Future, an epic new show that pays tribute to the greatest art form of all time; the Rock Musical!
The musical rock explosion that is Space Future accurately and factually tells the story of the dreaded Space Overlord, who has banned music from every planet in the universe. All the citizens of the universe live in constant fear of this all-powerful ruler. Enter the not so good looking slacker/Prince/future rock & roller who is the one and only hope for peace and prosperity in the galaxy…although he doesn’t even know it yet! Space Future is a rock musical for the ages, with mind melting tunes that take you on a ride where love is forbidden, ancient relics are found, and good must triumph over evil. You will learn that the stars are made from a thing called love, music can be made with just your mouth, and in the end you will ask yourself “would you risk it all for Rock & Roll?” Dunbar Dicks, Forest Hynes, and Brian Penkrot wrote Space Future, with original music by Dunbar Dicks and Brian Penkrot. The show is directed by Forest Hynes, and the cast features some fantastic performers from all over the Chicago comedy scene. In addition there is a four-piece rock band playing each week! |
