Set at the conclusion of the 1893 World's Fair, Streeterville is a black musical comedy that exposes the dark underbelly of the gilded age Windy City. Mayor Carter Harrison is a beloved figure, but he's just made an enemy in an unhinged office seeker who just moved into a squatter's settlement filled with all manner of unsavory types. This landfill has been claimed by "Captain" George Wellington Streeter and soap magnate N.K. Fairbank, and their battle to control this rapidly growing land plays out under the gas lamps and tin ceilings of the wicked, brutal city by way of some catchy, off-color songs.

A Woman's Path: An Absurd Send Up of Spiritual Retreats

Full Price:
$10.00
Our Price:
$5.00

If you've ever sung "Kumbaya" while burning sage and aligning your chakra by performing yoga on the red rocks of Sedona, you'll see the humor in this playful lampooning of for-profit, soul-bearing, women's retreats. A Woman's Path is more than a retreat for middle-aged women in clownishly tacky home-quilted blazers, it's the last chance at happiness for six disturbed, lost souls. Between arts and crafts, nature walks, horrific bear attacks, accidental lesbianism, fist fights and gallons upon gallons of cheap chardonnay, this weekend retreat turns into a healing journey that's seared into these ladies' memories for eternity. There is a large cast in this musical, and several of the main characters were entertaining. The narrative was a bit disjointed and few of the songs were memorable, but the energy of the cast helped to make up for these faults.
