Yelp didn't list it as a restaurant but we went to Julius Meinl for a light supper before the play. It is a block south of the theater.

Parking is awful. See review above. The City did a good job of discouraging me as a suburban person from spending my dollars in Chicago.

July 26, 5:30pm: CIMMfest Shorts Program B

July 26, 7:30pm: *_The Last Dispatch *_

Helmut Schleppi, 2005, 90m

Filmmaker Helmut Schleppi shadows the indie rock band Dispatch in the 12 days leading up to their 2004 farewell concert in Boston, an event that drew more than 100,000 people to hear them play. Part of the drama inherent in this rockumentary is the fact that the band — which, during its nine years on the indie rock scene, was never signed by a label and never experienced traditional success — was expecting a modest crowd — but instead drew the largest crowd in independent music history. Dispatch has reunited twice since this farewell concert and is currently touring. They had two concerts in Chicago during June 2011, and both are reported to have sold out.

July 26, 9:30pm: *The Last Waltz *

Martin Scorsese, 1978, 117m

On Thanksgiving Day 1976, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese was among more than 5,000 cheering fans gathered for the historic farewell concert of the Band, the pioneering country-tinged rock band formed in 1960. Scorsese later edited the concert footage to create this documentary, interspersing band interviews with performances by legends such as Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and Emmylou Harris.
