The Clean House: Award-Winning Romantic Comedy
Athenaeum Theatre presents The Clean House, a wryly funny romantic comedy that centers around Mathilde, a Brazilian-born live-in maid who'd rather be telling jokes than cleaning houses. Her employer, Lane, seems to have it all: a successful surgeon husband and her own busy career as a doctor. But does she? The New York Times has called playwright Sara Ruhl "a provocative new theatrical voice" and The Clean House "visionary." Directed by Emmi Hilger, this acclaimed play won the 2004 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2005.
