This well-reviewed off-Broadway play by Mark St. Germain (The God Committee) imagines a late-in-life meeting between Dr. Sigmund Freud, the devoutly atheist father of psychoanalysis, and the philosophical Christian writer-professor C.S. Lewis. Directed by Tyler Marchant, Freud's Last Session finds the two intellectual giants arguing about love, sex, death and the existence of God just weeks before the end of Freud's life in World War II-era London. Absolutely fantastic!! I cannot recommend this play more highly. My son (age 9) and I went and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect - from chatting with the gal selling books in the entry, viewing the play to meeting the actors afterward. The fact that Selznick (author of the book) was integral in the development of this play was very evident - as the scenery looks as if it was "pencil drawn" just like the illustrations in Selznick's books. The play is only 1 hour - also perfect for a child's limited attention span. You must see it before it leaves town.Written on Feb 13 2012

Not to be missed! Live music, puppetry, good acting and a great story. This was thought provoking for my 11 year old and my 5 and 8 year old were enthralled! The cast and comapany treat the children with respect! Wish it was longer!Written on Feb 28 2012

I took my 5 and 7 year-old. I'm not sure the younger one really understood the story, but the 7 year-old enjoyed it. I thought the show was fun and the acting was quite good. My biggest complaint would be that the theater is rather flat and the stage is low, so the sight lines aren't very good (especially for kids).Written on Mar 06 2012

Absolutely loved this performance. There is nothing greater than hearing my 5 year old laugh and seeing his face light up with joy and wonder. Don't miss this performance. It truly makes you want to go after your dreams, no matter how silly they may seem. Two thumbs way up!Written on Mar 06 2012

Description
As famed escape artist Harry Houdini circles the globe performing one incredible stunt after another, Victor, a young devotee goes through his own rigorous magician’s training – locking himself in closets, holding his breath under water and walking into walls. After a chance encounter with his hero, Victor receives a special box that just might contain the secrets of Houdini’s great success.
Directed by famed large-scale spectacle and puppetry artist Blair Thomas, The Houdini Box is a musical adaptation of the popular children's book of the same name by Brian Selznick, famous for The Invention of Hugo Cabret, the basis of the hit movie Hugo.
