Plan on extra driving time to the area, especially if it is a Friday evening show. The traffic can be bad. The theater is located near Wrigley Field along a busy section of Southport Ave, so there can be alot of congestion.

Not to be missed! Live music, puppetry, good acting and a great story. This was thought provoking for my 11 year old and my 5 and 8 year old were enthralled! The cast and comapany treat the children with respect! Wish it was longer!

Great show for children. The ingenuity of the sets and the puppets were wonderful. The only criticism would be that sometimes the music was a little too loud and overpowered the actors.

Named a “Top Ten Show to Watch For in 2012” by the Chicago Tribune.

As famed escape artist Harry Houdini circles the globe performing one incredible stunt after another, Victor, a young devotee goes through his own rigorous magician’s training – locking himself in closets, holding his breath under water and walking into walls. After a chance encounter with his hero, Victor receives a special box that just might contain the secrets of Houdini’s great success.

Directed by famed large-scale spectacle and puppetry artist Blair Thomas, The Houdini Box is a musical adaptation of the popular children’s book of the same name by Brian Selznick, famous for The Invention of Hugo Cabret, the basis of the hit movie Hugo.

Recommended for children ages 5 and older.

The show runs one hour with no intermission.
