this is a difficult play to convey the complexities of each character. Though there were moments of good acting as a whole I think it fell short.

Either you follow Chekhov's directions or you don't-- but you cannot have it both ways. In this production you will never believe that the three main actresses are sisters, that the action is taking place in Russia towards the end of the last...continued

Loved the cast except for the actor who played Natasha who took away from the authenticity of the Chechov characters, loved the decor .I don't think the choice of the actor playing Natasha was appropriate for depicting a Russian aristocrat of the...continued

This is a very interesting, unusual and intelligent production. The text adaptation is superb. I am very familiar with the original Chekhov's play and was impressed by the way the language was changed, so it sounds current. The director constantly...continued

I have seen Three Sisters a few times. Whenever I see that it's playing I make it a point to go see it. The Steppenwolf production is one of the best I've ever seen and I thoroughly enjoyed the superb acting, the set and the pace. Getting a...continued

The play itself was enjoyable. The actress who played Masha was a little weak and therefore not well understood but the rest of the cast was very good

Most of the acting was very good, but some weak leading roles.

I have read three interpretations of this production, and still don't understand it.

I speak and read Russian and have appreciation for Chekhov as a Russian short story writer; therefore, I might be biased as I came to see the performance with certain expectations. Overall, the experience was enjoyable and direction have conveyed...continued

Charming, humanist, funny, and deeply sad, Anna Shapiro's production of Chekhov's classic story of stagnation and longing gets everything right. Bravo, Steppenwolf!

First act not great; language not always convincing
and not engaging - second act much better
Wanted to see a Chekhov play and enjoyed
it overall. Acting good as always-

Great production, excellent acting. The essence of Chekhov was captured in its entirety. Fully enjoyed the play.

The acting was fairly good - did not like all the adaptations that were made. Modernizing some of the language was not all bad, but they should have stopped themselves when including cuss words (even using the "F" word.) The vulgar language was...continued
