Still the sexiest of the great American musicals, John Kander and Fred Ebb's Cabaret comes vividly to life at Citadel Theatre. This acclaimed musical revolves around the romantic intrigues of cabaret singer Sally Bowles, young American writer Cliff Bradshaw and other denizens of the seedy Kit Kat Klub, amid the backdrop of the Nazis' rise to power in 1930s Berlin. Played out with commentary from the club's darkly comic Emcee, the show's memorable songs include the title tune, along with "Willkommen," and "Tomorrow Belongs to Me." Learn More
This show is at the Heartland Studio, which is literally around the corner from The Heartland restaurant, which offers good sandwiches and homemade soups. This Rogers Park institution changed ownership recently but still makes good, healthy food though with fewer entrees at the moment. They have a good selection of craft beers as well as wonderful desserts and good coffee. So, it's also a good place to stop before the show or afterwards. BOHO will have one other show here later in the season and two on Belmont, one at Theater Wit and one at Stage 773.dining • Sep 30 2013 star this tip starred

This little gem is not to be missed. It's well-written
(by the author of Rosemary's Baby) and the action is riveting.
For an hour and a half, I was held in its web of intrigue
wondering what the outcome would be. The acting
is wonderful and the playwright takes the audience on
a scary ride with twists and turns all taking place in
Veronica's room, which per the story is perfectly outfitted
to depict a 1935 setting. This is a well-crafted production
that makes for a wonderful night of theater. I loved all the surprises
and was still thinking and talking about the play with friends afterwards. Last season, I saw three of the company's plays and loved them all, especially the Jeff award-winning Hauptmann and the incredible recreation of Kiss of The Spiderwoman. I have come to believe in BOHO and know that when I see their work, I will not be disappointed.

About the Ticket Supplier: Bohemian Theatre EnsembleMission:
Creating theatre that incorporates the arts as a whole -- Art for art's sake.
To challenge convention through literary originality and eclectic expression while fostering an ever-evolving artistic environment in which people are inspired to learn, think, dream, and feel. To teach others and ourselves how to expand, create, and present art through theatre while reveling not only in the process, but also in the journey.
Bohemia is not so much a place on a map but a timeless concept that knows no geographic boundaries. The Bohemian recognizes that cherishing all aspects of art is tantamount to progression of mankind as more than just a living being.
The Four Basic Principles of the Bohemian represent their core values:
Truth -- That which is at the core of all things good and soulful
Beauty -- The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance. -Aristotle
Freedom -- Without freedom, no art; art lives only on the restraints it imposes on itself, and dies of all others. -Camus
Love -- Life in abundance comes only through great love.
