Members Who Went Said:After listening to the program for a couple of years, it was great to have the opportunity to catch a behind the scenes look at the live show.
Dorkydad dorkydad.blogspot.com I've listened to the show for 8 years and recently started enjoying it via their weekly podcast rather than when it's locally broadcast. If you think the broadcast version is great, you'll love the live taping, outtakes and all. Peter Sagal is hilarious, and seeing Carl Kasell perform live is a privilege. After the taping, Peter Sagal, Carl Kasell, and the panelists mingle with the crowd answering questions, posing for photos, and signing autographs. I had a great time; if I lived in Chicago, this would become a weekly event.
LynetteAW To much to do today. But what else is new! This is the fourth time we've attended one of these tapings and we always enjoy it thoroughly. This particular night may have been the best. This is a must see for news junkies and anyone who listens to the show. Tips: The room was kept quite cold. My husband was comfy, but I kept my coat on. You can check out who the panelists will be on the NPR website, however, more than a month in advance they are listed as TBA and currently what Goldstar has available is sold out for the next month. This taping I got the last ticket available on Goldstar and had to pay full price for the second ticket on the NPR site. If you are planning on dining nearby before the show, call and ask the restaurant about valet parking. Italian Village was offering it for $10, which is less than what you would pay at a self park. Of course if you are eating at Italian Village it is no longer a cheap date ;). Peter and most of the panelists stay after the Q&A session and are happy to sign your copy of their books or shake your hand. For the best seats come early as it is open seating. Though there are no really bad seats. And the serpentine queue that everyone submits too as they are waiting for the doors to open is an experience in itself. |
