opportunities to witness truly groundbreaking and freshly creative theatre can be rare. i count myself fortunate to have been able to see this work in its formative phase. it's original and cheeky and fun. like Urinetown it has dialogue and lyrics directed at the audience. i have a hard time seeing Yeast Nation make it to Broadway without re-writes or larger production numbers added. Urinetown was so great because it was the anti-musical that embraced and poked fun at production numbers but Yeast Nation scores with a great cast and excellent voices. the set and costume design were also very good.

The show was very original and at times very funny. The songs seemed pretty good as well. But the whole thing was just a bit too obtuse to feel truly wonderful.

This was one of the worst plays I have seen in a long time. The musical direction was really awful - the music was so loud that most of the time it was almost impossible to understand the lyrics. Guess lots of others liked it, but we certainly didn't.
