Led by singer-songwriter-guitarist Ralph Covert, The Bad Examples have been rocking Chicagoland for more than two decades with their singular brand of alt-power pop, amassing legions of loyal fans along the way. Their signature song, "Not Dead Yet," was released in 1991, covered by Styx and remains a highlight of their live show. Though Covert might be better known for his Grammy-nominated recordings with the kids' rock band Ralph's World, The Bad Examples continue to perform and record, and released Smash Record in 2011. Local singer-songwriter Ellis Clark & The Big Parade open the show. They've shared the bill with big acts like Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, Blondie and more. Learn More

This was not a night of great theater. The music drowned out the speaking and singing, and with some cast members miked and others not, songs involving a lead and chorus were also impossible to hear well.
I understood less than half the show. The plot and storyline was rather weak. The only bright spots were the headmistress and newspaper reporter, both of whom displayed comedic timing and acting chops far beyond the others in the cast.
The Morse theater is a beautiful venue, but this production needs a lot of work.

A silly but entertaining horror-show take on "Grease", but with better singing, music, and dancing. The High School Prinicipal is played by a drag queen, which is probably the effect Eve Arden wanted anyway. My wife & I both enjoyed it.
