The first act was painful and had me lurching towards the exit at intermission. I'm glad I stayed as the second act was much better. The cast tried their best and when they loosened up they seemed to being having fun - as did those of us in the audience. My advice would be for the cast to let loose earlier in the play. Have fun. The audience is on your side and will follow where you lead.Written on Feb 20 2011

Be patient with the slow start, as this drawing-room comedy is quite funny and generally well-acted.Written on Feb 21 2011

It was very enjoyable. A little slow to begin with but really made up for it later. It had my date and I laughing until our sides were splitting. Yes, it was corny, but in a great and very funny way. I recommend it for a very good time for a very reasonable price.Written on Feb 11 2011

More Information About Leading Ladies
Description
Set in York, Pennsylvania in 1958, this farce centers on two out-of-work Shakespearean actors, Leo Clark and Jack Gable. The duo learns that Florence, a wealthy dowager reportedly on her deathbed, has been unable to find Max and Stevie, her daughter's children who moved to England as children. Florence wants to include them in her multi-million dollar inheritance. They decide to pose as Max and Steve to claim it. When they discover that "Max" and "Stevie" are actually "Maxine" and "Stephanie," they continue to plan the deception but now show up dressed as women (in tradition of Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in Some Like It Hot). Florence, reportedly dead, miraculously recovers just as the pair arrives. Since Florence has never seen her adult nieces, the acting duo decide to try to outlast her renewed health. To further complicate the plot, Leo falls for Florence's actual niece Meg, while Jack is smitten with Audrey, who works for Doc. The entire group, including Doc’s son Butch, present a scene from Twelfth Night. Meanwhile, Meg's fiancée Duncan grows increasingly suspicious of the "Leading Ladies."
