Great fun !! My husband and I went for the Valentine's day show and really enjoyed the music and singing. Very friendly staff and there is not a bad seat in the house. Would go again.Written on Feb 16 2010

This was a colossal waste of time and money. It was so disgusting, that we all departed during the intermission. Kudos to the majority of the performers, however. Not only was the content totally boring, but the score was extremely difficult to perform.Written on Mar 05 2010

Everyone seriously interested in local theatre should see this musical. It is a milestone of sorts, not because of the subject matter (which is much talked about), but because it shows that very high quality entertainment can be produced on a very modest budget. First and foremost is the depth of the on-stage talent, led by Eric Vest as Burrs in one of the best all-around performances I have seen on ANY stage in San Diego (and I have seen many in the past 20 years). The other leads stand out as well, but most satifying is the great moments given to some of the support ensemble--for example Kendra Truett's comic vamp of "Old Fashioned Love Story" (which is anything but). The opening numbers were difficult to understand the night I attended, but once Chrissy Burns belted "Out of the Blue," the vocals and music were exceptional throughout the show. Kudos to Director David Kelso for expertly staging a show where a large cast is on stage for almost the entire time. As far as the subject matter goes, those who trust that the (very stylized) sex and violence portrayed at the beginning of the show are there for a reason will not be disappointed by the story behind this musical. This story does not promote a hedonistic lifestyle--quite the opposite. The promotion for the play is somewhat misleading. You wouldn't want to be the life of this party. You wouldn't even want to be there, unless you fit in with a bunch of interesting but low self-esteem losers. And when the party's over, no one is better off. Except for Coronado Playhouse, which has produced a real winner. Congratulations to all involved, especially David and his right-hand woman Chrissy, who I know put a lot more into this show than her amazing vocals.Written on Feb 13 2010

Description
The setting is New York City in the year 1928. Queenie and Burrs, a dancer and a clown on the vaudeville circuit, have reached a tumultuous point in their three-year relationship. Eager for something...anything...to restore the spark to their once-red-hot romance, Queenie hatches a plan to throw a party to end all parties. The guest list is a mixed bag of characters, all living on the edge. Things seem to be going quite well, until Queenie's best friend and sometimes rival, Kate, shows up with the handsome and mysterious Mr. Black. As the party rages on and the attraction strengthens between Queenie and Mr. Black, tension mounts and tempers flare. The situation soon spins out of control to an explosive conclusion.
This show is intended for mature audiences.
