I personally loved the production, but mostly because of the wonderful young lady playing Dorothy. She's worth the price of admission and more....and I'm a WoO fanatic, with every line and song memorized. But I took 2 friends who had never seen the film, (I know - probably the only two in the world, but they are foreign-born so it's excusable....)and it was interesting to hear their comments. I would warn folks that there are many many times when this feels like a school production, with homemade costumes and sets of cardboard. It's an ambitious undertaking, and I enjoyed in innovations with dance. The special effects could use some work. The fire was nonexistant, so there was no burned broom...etc. It's not fair to compare it to The Old Globe, but it is fair to compare it to other local production companies, and except for the leads themselves, it doesn't rise to those standards. I would not recommend it to someone who is not a huge and forgiving fan of the script, like me. But I would go again just to hear Dorothy sing. She is amazing.

I thought the performance was excellent, but the seating arrangement was terrible and it was hard to see the stage.

People are being too kind...

There were a couple of actors who shone - namely those playing Dorothy and Scarecrow. Unfortunately, their fine-caliber performances were deeply overshadowed by the melodramatic, shrill performance of the Wicked Witch, who seemed to have a severely exaggerated understanding of this role being her moment in the sun.

The production was juvenile, snack bar was unfriendly and unhelpful, and the seating was at plastic lawn chair tables.

What a world, what a world...
