After waiting for 23 years, I finally had my date with Anita Baker this weekend in the Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.
I had tickets to see her in Anaheim back in 1986, only to have her cancel the show due to laryngitis .

The show was fair, (no pun intended).
Anita was still pretty much like sounded and looked as it was still 1986 .
However, the technical crew was just awful. It took them about 25 minutes to finally get everyone equalized on staged before things started to sound pleasurable.
And due to Costa Mesa’s noise abatement regulations, the concert had to end promptly at 9:30 PM, offering an abbreviated 50-minute performance.

Once again, I was witness to another example of the reduction of the IQ pool of this so called “American Society”.

I am a magnet for rude, uncouth, obtuse people at concerts.
This late-40s alcoholic felt that her life story was more compelling that the performance on the stage below.
After politely, yet stern, asking her to refrain from chatting for a second time, she got perturbed with me.

She snapped back at me, “What is your problem? This is a concert, not a movie!”
I was stupefied.
How does one respond to level of a moron without lashing out in violence?

I shook my head and returned to my seat.
I could only hope that she was sexually sterile and couldn’t produce any further defective offspring.

Anita Baker was simply amazing! She is such a professional and gives us just what we want. I had so much fun singing along and making friends with the guests around me who were singing along and swaying from side to side right along with me. The quality and tone of Anita Baker's voice is impeccable. She delivered songs that she's been singing for over twenty years as if they were new releases! She gave it up on stage and got funky with it. That's what I'm talking about! You can tell she really loves and cares about giving a quality performance for her fans and I appreciate her for it.
