Celebrate the true spirit of Christmas with this live-action play pairing featuring Hans Christian Anderson's timeless story The Little Match Girl and a new adaptation of O. Henry's holiday parable The Gift of the Magi. The story of a poor young girl who sells matches on the street, The Little Match Girl draws us into the harsh realities of the less fortunate and the promise of everlasting warmth in the embracing arms of love. In the beloved holiday story The Gift of the Magi, a pair of struggling newlyweds makes personal sacrifices to purchase presents for one another -- before realizing that their love and devotion are the true gifts of the season. There were a few good performances and songs but parts of it seemed unnecessarily silly and exaggerated. Hard not to compare the second act against Jesus Christ Superstar which was stronger on almost counts (except the ending).
The higher the seat number the closer you will be the rock band, who perform well, but are louder than is necessary.
The theater itself is nice and the staff are friendly, so I will return for other productions.

Godspell is a refreshing yet powerful musical that is fun for the entire family. Gleaning elements from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, this contemporary adaptation tells the story of Jesus through engaging characters, whacky story reenactments and memorable songs. Godspell is a groundbreaking and unique reflection on the life of Jesus Christ, with a message of kindness, tolerance and love.
