A genuine living legend in the jazz world, Dr. Lonnie Smith is widely regarded as one of the greatest organists to ever sit at the keyboard. A master of the Hammond B-3 for more than five decades, Smith is an acclaimed musician, composer, performer and recording artist. He has been featured on more than 70 albums and has recorded and performed with a virtual "Who's Who" of the greatest jazz, blues and R&B giants in the industry. His musical tastes are as broad as his talent -- he's recorded everything from covers of the Beatles, the Stylistics and the Eurythmics, to tribute albums of Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane and Beck. A wonderful performance of song and dance. The John Alexander Singers are, without a doubt, one of the premier choral groups in the country. Their singing is of the highest quality and skill. More importantly, it's completely musical. The evening included beautiful arrangements of Irish tunes, some sad and others joyous. A small Irish dance ensemble performed interspersed in the program - they were so full of energy and completely entertaining. And, to complement the evening, an Irish band with fiddles and percussion entertained before the program and accompanied the group on a couple of numbers. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable evening of top-rate music. Thank you!
