Hedwig's story is presented through a as a rock concert/stand-up comedy gig format in which the charismatic singer takes the audience on an emotional roller coaster ride through the funny, touching, painful and ultimately inspiring experience of being Hedwig. The fantastic rock score has been winning fans and acclaim since the musical first debuted a decade ago. The musical won a Village Voice Obie Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical on its debut. Costa Mesa Playhouse has to be one of the greatest values in Orange County. The play was great and then they held their gala event with free champagne and a ton of deserts! Do yourself a favor and catch a play here. The small venue provides an outstanding experience.Written on Jul 19 2011

I love the Costa Mesa Playhouse and everything I have seen there has been really good, unfortunately this was an exception. It was a little slow and the funny parts were not that funny and the drama not dramatic. Overall, I would say it was not consistent.Written on Jul 18 2011
