Six-time Grammy-nominated jazz pianist, bandleader and composer Fred Hersch comes to town with his acclaimed trio, featuring John Hébert on bass and Eric McPherson on drums. Hersch has recovered from a six-month coma he suffered in 2008, and is back to making music with his trio, including releasing a widely acclaimed 2-disc collection, Alive at the Vanguard. Hersch was actually the first artist in the 75-year history of New York's legendary Village Vanguard to play week-long engagements as a solo pianist, and he's been praised by The New York Times Magazine as "singular among the trailblazers of their art, a largely unsung innovator of this borderless, individualistic jazz -- a jazz for the 21st century." The show was great. The puppeteers and singers were amazing; they really brought the show to life. The story was adorable too. It is a small theater; very intimate setting. Because it was a small theater, you can speak to the cast and come up on stage to see the puppets and props after the show. That was a nice treat.
Adapted from a popular French children’s book, Perô is a sweet tale about a baker with a broken heart. This award-winning production from the Netherlands uses puppets, actors, singers and live musicians to bring this charming story to life.
