A genuine living legend in the jazz world, Dr. Lonnie Smith is widely regarded as one of the greatest organists to ever sit at the keyboard. A master of the Hammond B-3 for more than five decades, Smith is an acclaimed musician, composer, performer and recording artist. He has been featured on more than 70 albums and has recorded and performed with a virtual "Who's Who" of the greatest jazz, blues and R&B giants in the industry. His musical tastes are as broad as his talent -- he's recorded everything from covers of the Beatles, the Stylistics and the Eurythmics, to tribute albums of Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane and Beck. The show was beautifully presented, with fine puppetry, engaging music, and entertaining actors, but the story itself was disappointing. It was not entertaining for younger children--I brought a four year old and six year old and they enjoyed it enough, but were not delighted.
Adapted from a popular French children’s book, Perô is a sweet tale about a baker with a broken heart. This award-winning production from the Netherlands uses puppets, actors, singers and live musicians to bring this charming story to life.
