With a title that alludes to an inciting moment in the creative life of one of the biggest icons in music history, Miles Davis and the Blue Flame Incident celebrates the life and work of one of the most innovative jazz musicians of all time. An exploration of Davis' career, this unique performance combines video clips, voiceovers that brings to life sections of his autobiography, still images and, most importantly, incredible live music courtesy of the Metta Quintet. As the musicians perform a variety of songs that demonstrates the range and imagination of the trumpeter, bandleader and cultural provocateur that was Miles Davis, an inspirational story of the man himself is woven with the supporting media in this not-to-be-missed show. Roger Daltrey rocked the house (and the neighbors' houses) past curfew, now that's the Pacific Amphitheatre of old! A mix of blues, Johnny Cash and The Who favorites round the set that played almost an hour and half. There was an unknown warm up band that played well to the crowd, a quick tear down and on came Roger and the band. Other reviewer have said Roger can no longer sing as well as back in the day, which I found to be true, but his onstage persona and engaging with the audience the whole time makes up for any short comings. Going to see Roger Daltrey was on my bucket list, the show was a great fill in for the cancellation of the Doors concert (due to the untimely death).
