I hadn't seen the movie or the play before, so I went in with an open mind and was very impressed by everything about this production. It was an engaging story that I didn't want to end. In part due to a skillful delivery by the talented actors, I was drawn into the characters and wanted to see how things developed in their lives.

It was also interesting to see how they coped with their challenges and some serious situations, which thankfully were lightened up with humor.

I'd definitely recommend seeing this production to other theater goers, or fans of the movie.

This play was perfectly cast and directed by Jason Holland. The all female actors seemed to have been together all of their lives! It certainly had the feel of a much larger more professional theater production. And the set was amazing. Run, do not walk, to the next season!

Quotes & Highlights

Description

The quintessential story of friendship and trust, Steel Magnolias, based on playwright Robert Harling’s own experiences growing up in Louisiana, serves up a southern slice of life that’s as warm and comforting as sweet potato pie.

In the world of Truvy’s local-homegrown beauty salon, six very different women come together to share their secrets, fears and love for one another while engaging in hysterical and neighborly gossip. From weddings to divorces, babies to funerals, new beginnings to happy endings, they share each moment in their lives with grace, determination and perfectly coiffed hair.
