My first time seeing this production and it seemed to be performed very well, I just thought the source material was a bit long and repetitive. The two others I attended this with enjoyed the magic and were entertained, so I think I can recommend...continued

I have seen many productions of The Fantastics over the years, and it is one of my favorite "small" musicals. SCR's rates as one of the best I've seen! The show is usually performed in a small theatre of 99 seats or less with very basic scenery...continued

Description

A carnival midway of magic, mischief and theatrical thrills! Amanda Dehnert, celebrated throughout the American theatre for re-imagining classics, has added a multitude of visual delights and fantastical illusions to the original charm and beautiful ballads (like the haunting “Try to Remember”) of The Fantasticks_. When two scheming fathers conspire with the mysterious El Gallo to keep their daughter and son apart (to be sure they’ll fall in love!) the dewy-eyed lovers venture into the real world. But as fantasy turns to reality, El Gallo is there to remind them that “without the hurt, the heart is hollow” in one of the most popular musicals of all time, which the _Washington Post calls, “Fresh and alive again.”
