Showcasing Cole Porter's signature wit and masterful composition, Roundabout Theatre Company's Tony-winning production of Anything Goes features beloved songs such as "I Get a Kick Out of You" and "You're the Top." This timeless tale of boy-meets-girl and the resulting roller coaster ride centers on Billy Crocker, who falls hopelessly in love with a wealthy heiress. When he sees her boarding a boat to London, he throws caution to the wind and becomes a stowaway. Madcap hijinks ensue when his fellow passengers, including the evangelist-turned-nightclub-singer Reno Sweeney and second-rate gangster Moonface Martin, decide to help Billy win his true love. view more less of this reviewI thought this play was only OK. I have really enjoyed other Goldstar theater offerings, such as God of Carnage for its wit, unexpected plot twists and smart direction. The Prince of Atlantis had none of those elements. I noticed many of the audience members were enjoying more than t was, still I think it was very predictable (think about the last sitcom rerun you saw). I think you'd probably have better luck trying something else.

star this review starred report as inappropriateThe Prince of Atlantis was outstanding. May go see it again this week. I have nothing but praise for the story, the actors .... it left me thinking about truths/half truths/family secrets, etc. Hope it goes to NYC--I go there a lot too.

Quotes & Highlights
- "Drukman orchestrates the action and revelations masterfully, culminating in a late-play surprise that brings the playwright's themes neatly into focus." --Orange County Register
- "As directed by Warner Shook, Drukman's script has the slick professionalism of a major movie or television production ... Drukman's comedic dialogue is loose, breezy, and informal, and his characters' stories, jokes, and references are enhanced by their lively street slang/" --Back Stage West
- "it’s a journey worth taking under Warner Shook’s careful direction, and the cast is compelling. John Capelos is hilarious as Joey, a seafood mogul whose business practices land him in prison; Nike Doukas is even funnier as his tough-talking, street smart girlfriend, Connie." --Examiner

Audience recommendation: While drug and alcohol use are part of the action, they aren’t condoned and theater-goers of all ages should enjoy these colorful characters and their story. The show contains some profanity and is recommended for those age middle school and above.
