Playwright Mary Chase won a Pulitzer Prize for Harvey, her enduring comedy about a gentle cocktail-consumer named Elwood P. Dowd, his domineering and society-loving sister Veta, the doctors at a nearby sanitarium and, of course, Elwood's best friend, a giant invisible rabbit named Harvey. To save her family from embarrassment, Veta tries to have Elwood committed, but things don't go exactly according to plan and Veta gets committed instead. A long-running Broadway hit, Harvey was adapted into an Oscar-winning 1950 movie starring Jimmy Stewart. Learn More
