Celebrity stripper and Dallas legend Candy Barr caused a huge sensation in the '40s and '50s. From her career in Vegas and L.A., her troubles with the law and her relationships with gangster Mickey Cohen and nightclub owner Jack Ruby, the Texan caused a stir. This new comedy from Ronnie Claire Edwards (The Waltons) takes place on the day of Candy's funeral when three fellow strippers attend the services together and uncover even more than Candy used to bare on stage. Fast paced and witty. Very entertaining! Maybe I learned a few things? I can't speak for the historical accuracy, but I went in knowing nothing at all about Andrew Jackson, and now I have an impression of the man and the political issues of his time.
Nits to pick? The sound could have been a little better. Although I could follow the dialogue and vocals, with so much going on, I sometimes had to struggle to understand what was being said. On the other hand, it would have been fun to hear that Stratocaster played a little louder!
