Revolution is in the air at this 67th season premiere concert by the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, which features pieces by Shostakovich, Strauss and Beethoven. Noted for its famous second movement, Beethoven's seventh symphony was considered by the revolutionary composer to be one of his best works. Strauss' innovative orchestration is on full display in his final work, the operatic Four Last Songs, which will feature powerhouse soprano Elizabeth Baldwin. The program opens with Shostakovich's October, a piece written to commemorate the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. Come early for the food truck tailgate and a pre-concert talk by associate conductor Samuel Fuhrman. Learn More
Parking can be a challenge so try to get there early. I think there's a lot across the street, which we didn't see. Not sure if it was full. We parked on the street but had to walk a few blocks. Made it just in time.Denver Philharmonic Orchestra: New Formations & Mysterious Mountains info • Apr 07 2014 star this tip starred
