Chesapeake Shakespeare Company presents playwright Christina Calvit's brisk and dramatic adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Published in 1813, Jane Austen's classic novel is both a love story and a biting social satire that remains popular today for its wit and emotional resonance. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett have five daughters that they must marry off, so when two eligible young men arrive in the area, it seems like dream come true. But when the strong-willed and intelligent Elizabeth Bennett meets the aloof but honest Mr. Darcy, a chain of events is set in motion that turns the Bennett household topsy-turvy. CSC's production will be directed by international theater artist Isabelle Anderson. Bring your own picnic for the pre-show entertainment featuring musicians, spoken word poets, costume booths, period games and dances, and stage combat demonstrations.

Unfortunately, due to the storm loomimg on the horizon, they had to end the production at intermission. The first half was very enjoyable so we can't wait to go back next week to be able to enjoy the entire production. It is a beautiful setting and everyone from the first person who gave us our tickets to everyone on stage were great. We have been to the Chesapeake Shakespeare Theatre productions in the past but this is the first time we purchased tickets through Goldstar. I will definitely use this service again!

The first half was great, but unfortunately didn't get to see the second half due to impending thunderstorm. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy were well cast! Minor complaint -- chairs were not comfortable.
