Though it's mostly known today as a jazz instrument, the saxophone was originally developed for classical musicians, and there are few better classical saxophonists today than Ashu. The wildly talented and charaismatic performer has played at New York's Carnegie Hall and Zurich's Tonhalle, and performed with some of North America and Europe's premier orchestras. He even won the Musical Olympus International Festival Audience Award in St. Petersburg, Russia -- beating out the First Prize winners of the world's foremost violin, piano and voice competitions in a shocking upset. Ashu, who earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in saxophone performance from Northwestern University, plays solo and orchestral concerts around the globe. His repertoire includes works composed for solo saxophone by soprano and alto sax works by Debussy, Villa-Lobos, and Glazunov, and his own arrangements of works by Piazzolla, Rachmaninoff, and even Ennio Morricone. Overall, we enjoyed the program. The 1st half seemed a little slow at times & it was difficult to hear the singing over the music. The actors could have projected their voices a little more. The 2nd half was better with the characters having better singing voices & the story moving more smoothly.

We really enjoyed the show but the sound system wasn't very good. It was extremely difficult to understand the words of the songs and there also was a hum sometimes in the system. Liked the theater very much - most all seats seemed to be good ones.
