The Music Man plays out the eternal battle of the sexes in a great all-American, classic musical comedy. Into River City, Iowa, comes handsome and roguish ladies' man Harold Hill, with a grand scheme to con the town. Little does he know he's met his match in the unfashionably smart and uncommonly beautiful town librarian, Marion Paroo!

This was my first time visiting the Kit Carson Park Amphitheatre. My party of four were prepared for the evening outdoors, having taken seat cushions, jackets, and a stadium blanket. Even with the cushions though, the seating is hard on the bottom and on the back, as the seat back digs into your back the whole time. That detracted from the enjoyment of the production. I would recommend you take thick pillows, or, take your own comfortable seating to set up on the grassy area. Free use of provided bug spray was available at the venue. Although this particular production was a bit long for my tastes, (with a twenty minute intermission included), nonetheless, it was a musical event to be remembered and the talents of all were appreciated. Marie Callendar's pies, for purchase, by the slice, were available at the snack bar which was a nice touch.

The American Rose Theatre version of The Music Man was very well done - great cast, fantastic costumes, nice venue. We were chuckling and entertained throughout the entire show. The pies and other snacks at the concession stand were very good - and since it is an outdoor venue, we could eat them at our seats - a nice bonus. Nothing like good theater under the starry sky - keep up the good work!

The Music Man showcases the charming and hilarious antics of small-town, turn-of-the century life; it's a dose of Americana at its silliest and most heartwarming. With a cast of more than 30 actors, a performing barbershop quartet, more than 20 dancers and baton twirlers, and a marching band, The Music Man will have Kit Carson Park alive with "Trouble" this summer!
